The Five in a Row Programme

Jane Lambert, the creator of this programme, discovered the power in reading the same story over and over to her children many years ago. She found that with her careful guidance, they were able to pick up more and more each time they read. They could learn about sentences and special word usage, they could learn about art and drawing from the illustrations, they could learn a little about moths and science and maths concepts from particular books, and they could learn a great deal about human society and history and geography. Not to mention, it would be a lovely relationship-building time, sitting together reading thoroughly worthwhile books each day. She decided to make a programme incorporating her beliefs in the value of basing education around good books. Using one book per week, the manuals guide the parent in how to teach language arts, science, art, maths and social studies from each book each week.. She suggests, adding a maths and phonics programme to FIAR when your child is ready, and that will be enough each day. I would recommend FIAR for families who have one child ready to 'begin school' but a younger brother or sister following close in age. They may like to hold off using a heavier programme for a year or even two, so they can start them both together. FIAR will fill that time adequately. It may also be used to ensure a 2 - 4 year old is not neglected, as there is also a programme for them.

To use the FIAR programme, you need to have a manual, and the books that go with it. We have decided this year to offer the books that go with each manual at a discount if you purchase THE WHOLE SET. As these books go out of print and return to print with regularity, you will need to check our website if you want to know just which books will be sent. We cannot list the actual discounted price here because it will change, depending on what books are in print when you order. However, the discount will amount to 10% off the full current (website) price of all books in your set.
All books may also be purchased separately at the full price. Manuals are not included in the discounted pack.
