How to Teach Art to Children - Evan Moor - $27.95This glossy paged book teaches the 7 elements of art in two ways. The first part of the book contains various easy projects that illustrate the importance of that element, elements being line, shape, colour, value, texture, form and space. Most of these will be completed with white paper, crayons or pencils, a black texta and a pair of scissors. From here the book goes onto art appreciation - each lesson looks at a different artists and looks for how these 7 elements are used. The artwork is NOT in the book, but will be easily found in any library, or in a book of general art history. For example, for one lesson you need to show examples of Leonardo da Vinci's invention drawings, another - show some still lifes by Paul Cezanne. Then the student does a well explained piece of their own art based upon that artist. For those who are looking for an affordable way to teach formal art to children, I recommend this book first and foremost. |
