Read a Book, Make a Book - Evan-Moor - $24.95

This wonderful book is what I call a creative narration system.  38 books are studied as follows:  Read the book or have the child read it alone - as many times as you like (Books available upon request from HSF).  Have child do preliminary part of the craft activity while discussing suggested aspects of the book.  Have child do the first (topic suggested) narration or report based on the book, on the shape form given.  Next day do a secodn creative piece of writing based on the book if  if desired (good suggestions given).  Cut out book forms and paste together to make really creative flap up, pop-up, concertina, lift-up, layered, shaped, graduated, pull tab books - a huge, interesting variety.  Store in folder.

The beauty of this course is 1. the easy, fast but effective crafts, 2. the lovely shaped lined paper for the narration, matching the theme of the book, and 3. the books themselves.  Wonderful factual books about ants, popcorn growing, cars, and interesting stories, old and new - <for some titles, click here>

Another in series coming - using books teaching maths and science.  Perfect from encouraging science narrations.
