This delightful 240 page cookbook contains recipes taken from each of the original Little House books.  Each recipe begins with the excerpt from the book it appears in.  Consideration is given to the fact that most modern cooks don't know many things that were considered basic on the frontier, so clear explanation is given for each step.  Ingredients not easily available today are substituted where necessary.  Lovely illustrations by Garth Williams grace the book.

Fans of 'slow cooking' will relish he recipes for butter-making, sourdough starters, hard cheese making, and many will enjoy the  pie recipes.
