This is an excellent abridgement on 4 CDs in a plastic case, fully indexed and read by English actors who do NOT have grating accents! (I found it very pleasant to listen to.) It often combines 2 stories from the book in one, for example, in the book the stories of King Harold at the Battle of Scambridge and Harold at the Battle of Hastings are two separate chapters. On the CDs, it includes both stories, but in a shorter version, with Harold returning from one battle and leaving a few days later for the next. However, interesting detail is not rushed over on the CDs. Our family have loved these. Over 5 hrs of listening.
